Friday 5 Including JUNIOR RUN (starting
at 7:15pm) Friday 27th June 2008 - 7:45pm Introduction This is the Stowmarket Striders Friday 5mile race, leg 4 of the Friday 5 Series of races. The challenging 5 mile course is held at Haughley Park (nr Stowmarket), through 2 laps of the woods and fields of the park lands. Click here for a map of the course (subject to change). Please complete our race entry form and return together with a suitably sized self addressed stamped envelope, and entry fee payable to "Stowmarket Striders", to Chris Chaplin, Friday 5, 1 Lowry Way, Stowmarket, IP14 1UE. Closing date for postal entries is Monday 23rd June Entry Fee: £7.00 Affiliated Club Members, £9.00 Unaffiliated, (+£1.00 on the night), £2.00 for the Fun Run The fun run entry fee is to be confirmed. The race headquarters and start is held at Haughley Park, nr Stowmarket. Click here for a street map of the area. Travel Directions from Ipswich - Travel on the A14 towards Bury St Edmunds. Pass Stowmarket and you soon enter the 50 mile an hour speed limit and the Haughley bends. After the bends and shortly before leaving the 50 mph speed restriction, take the right hand slip road following the signs for Haughley Street, Haughley Park and Wetherden. Be careful crossing the opposite carriage way and follow the road through the village and round to the left. Haughley park is about 1/2 mile on the left. Travel Directions from Bury St Edmunds - Travel on the A14 towards Ipswich. After the junction with the A1088 to Ixworth, take the next junction signposted Haughley & Wetherden. Follow this road straight through and Haughley Park will be about 1/2 mile on your right. Please follow the marshals instructions on where to park. We do not have the benefit of the barn this year so portaloo toilets will be made available. Changing facilities will be limited and there are no showers available. BBQ and refreshments will be available on the night. The Red Cross will be present for those requiring medical attention. If you see anyone in distress during the race, please advise a race marshal as soon as possible to call for medical assistance. A copy of the risk assessment will be available on the race notice board. We will endeavour to display as many of the results as possible on the race notice board as competitors complete the race, and after the race.
