The race headquarters and start is at the Mid-Suffolk Leisure Centre in Stowmarket. Click here for a street map of the area. Travel Directions from Ipswich - Please take this route as it avoids the town centre and Remembrance Day parades. From Ipswich take the A14 towards Bury St Edmunds. Take the 1st exit marked for Stowmarket on the A1120, and turn left at the roundabout. * Continue straight over the next roundabout and down the hill on the dual-carriage way. Taking the right-hand lane turn right at the bottom of the hill. At the next roundabout, take the 3rd exit along Gipping Way and carry on straight across the traffic lights (Barnards on the right). DO NOT turn left at the traffic lights. At the next roundabout take the second exit onto Bury Road. Pass the Vets and Football Club and go straight on at the next roundabout (onto what used to be the on-slip onto the A14 towards Bury St Edmunds). 50 metres after the roundabout turn left onto Chilton Way. At the end of this road turn left down Onehouse Road and then next left into Gainsborough Road and the Leisure Centre.
Travel Directions from Bury St Edmunds - NOTE: Due to major construction work on the A14 there is currently only one exit for Stowmarket from the A14: Follow the A14 past Stowmarket and take the exit marked for Stowmarket and the A1120, and turn right at the roundabout. Now follow the "Travel Directions from Ipswich" from here: * Car parking is available at the Leisure Centre. Please do not park on the road.
Changing, toilets and showers are available at the Leisure Centre. The leisure centre offers additional facilities such as a bar and café, and for those more energetic - a swimming pool (additional fee payable at reception). We hope to have masseurs available after the race to ease those 7 miles out of your legs! They are independent of the race organisation.
For a map of the route click here There are no long walks to the start of the race, being very close to the Leisure Centre. Please note that the race is on Remembrance Sunday and we would be grateful if you would join us in observing 2 minutes silence at 11:00am. The race will start at 11:02. The police have requested that all runners keep to the left hand side of the road unless told otherwise. The Red Cross will be present for those requiring medical attention. If you see anyone in distress during the race, please advise a race marshal as soon as possible to call for medical assistance. A copy of the risk assessment will be available on the race notice board. SEAA Permit Number 6581 under UKA rules. The course is certified accurate (SEAA 03/079).
Audio equipment with earphones seriously inhibits the user from hearing traffic approaching from behind and clearly hearing instructions from race marshals. The use of all such equipment is therefore not permitted during the race
We will endeavor to display as many of the results as possible on the race notice board as competitors complete the race, and after the race. Full results will be available from this website (www.stowmarketstriders.org.uk) in the week following the race. A postal results service may also be available. Previous years results:-
