There were 240 finishers.

This was quite a small field for this race and very few Striders as most were cross-country training.
A two-lap course that starts and finishes on the prom. and goes out to Old Felixstowe and into the
country before returning through the town. Two challenging hills (which is really four hills as you do
them twice) and a great sprint along the prom to finish, watch out for the day-trippers who never
look behind them.

I had a weird experience about half a mile from the finish. I was striding along, minding my own
business when I was verbally abused by this old codger, you know the sort, cloth cap and brown
mac, on a day trip from Grundisburgh where he lives with his (female) cousin.

"You can't run for toffee, I could run faster, you're no good, bloody rubbish" he shouted as he waved
his finger wildly and spat phlegm down his mac. Why? Who knows? Obviously with an IQ of 2 this
sort of thing is supposed to be funny. If he was trying to motivate me all he did was motivate me to
smack him in the mouth but I restrained myself to a verbal response.
