Lowestoft
Turkey Trot 10m
16th December 2001 December gets no warmer when standing on a blowy sea wall at Lowestoft. In fact it was positively freezing! It was so cold that we played that famous game... How many Striders can you fit into a telephone box!? We managed 5!!! A small contingent made the hour plus drive up for the 4th round of the Suffolk Grand Prix. There was a certain London Marathon feel about the race. Festive dress and hats were worn by more than a few and a clown with a scary face mask beat all but our first 3 striders. We all expected to see David Miller around our 4 mile mark (or his 6) but was surprise to see someone else in front with a huge gap over David. After later investigation this runner was Guy Amos, an international athlete, who beat David Miller by a clear 2.5 minutes. Wow?! A good race which for Katy and I was taken more as a training run than a race. Grayhame however, at loggerheads with Anne, was running his heart out to reclaim the family record for 10 miles from Anne. Rich The Stowmarket Striders results are:-
There were 200 finishers. |
