Bungay
10k (Summer Series Nr:2)
8th June 2005
Due to the absence of 10k races in Suffolk
right now a foray over the border to Norfolk seemed like a good idea,
with a 10k silver standard in my sights for my new age group. Think
about the Waveney valley and you're thinking 'flat as a pancake', right?
Well, don't be fooled, because there are several mean undulations in
this course, specifically from the 2km to the 5km marker, mostly uphill.
Broome is a very quiet rural backwater and this race has a special
atmosphere, totally relaxed; as for traffic problems, their 'rush hour'
amounted to one farm tractor on the course. The kilometer markers are
very handy on this course which is a stereotypical out-and-back race.
Scenery great and natives friendly. Their next race, # 3 in the summer
series is on Wednesday evening at 7.30pm on Wednesday July 13th.
This was my first race in the yellow and
black vest, a great moment indeed! And am happy to say that I achieved
my 10k silver standard.
