Stowmarket Scenic Seven

This was yet another record entry for the Stowmarket Striders Scenic Seven. There were over 400 entries and 379 finishers. The light rain that greeted the runners on the way to the start didn’t last too long and the race was run under almost ideal conditions. After running into a slight head wind in the first three miles the runners turned for home and benefited from a gentle tail wind for most of the last four miles. The 2 minutes silence for Remembrance Sunday was, as usual, impeccably observed and following that the 379 runners were soon on their way.

David Miller was victorious in the men’s race and second year running. Congratulations also to Tracey Curl of Norwich Road Runners who set a new course record for her (FV45) age category of 46:08. Apart from the first three men and Tracey times were slightly down on last year which may have been due to the head wind.

Deepest gratitude goes to those who helped marshal and organise the race. For the second year running we had 59 Striders running today. Another stunning turnout from the club.
