   National XC League Plate Race

Stowmarket Striders finish 3rd in National XC League Plate Race

A small team of runners from the Stowmarket Striders Running Club travelled to Derbyshire to compete in the National Cross Country League Finals on Sunday 1st April.  The Stowmarket Striders finished second in the Suffolk County Cross Country Winter League earlier in the year making the club eligible to run in the ‘Plate Race’ for runners up at the National Cross Country League Finals.

The Derbyshire cross country course was typically hilly for the region consisting of 3 laps totalling 6.5 miles.  The Stowmarket Striders finished 3rd in the Plate Race with 7 men and 3 ladies scoring.  The runners of the club who attended are pictured, from left to right: Steve Gray, Carole Fowles, Richard Nash , Sue Garrod, Chris Starmer, Tom Wood, Kelly Kemp, Malcolm Penn, Charmaine Geraghty, Andy Green, Nick Stephens and Mary Narey.

The winner of the Plate Race was Ampthill & Flitwick Flyers Running Club from Bedfordshire
