  • Social run along the new section of A14 at Haughley/Stowmarket

On 6th August 2008, Stowmarket Striders with Birse Civils Limited hosted a an opportunity to run the new section of the A14 at Haughley (nr Stowmarket) before the road opened for traffic in September. Being the friendly and open club we invited other local clubs and joggers/runners to join us in this social fun run.  There were no prizes for the fastest run or recording of times / position - this was simply for social get together principally to enjoy running a new dual carriage way before it was opened up to traffic.

In holding this event, the club, together with the contractors (Birse Civils Ltd) involved with building the new road raised over
£400 that was equally split between the 'East Anglian Air Ambulance' service and 'The Monday Club', a local based charity for people with severe learning difficulties.

The club would like to thank all those runners who took part and who made generous contributed
