The Joe Cox Half Marathon
Sunday 29th March 2009 11:05amResults: Half Marathon - Fun Run
Race photos by Picxel
Part of the England Athletics East Grand Prix Series
With thanks to our Sponsors;

Proceeds from the race go to the Multiple Sclerosis Charity in memory of Joe Cox.
This race replaced the Joe Cox 10 miler because we think that a half-marathon is a better distance for this time of year as it fits better into London Marathon training schedules. We would also like to share more of our fabulous Suffolk Countryside and have a lovely scenic rural country route for the runners. The route also enables supporters to encourage their team members and slip from point to point without impacting on other runners.
All runners completing the 13.1 miles receive a medal.
The following prizes are awarded as follows:-
- 1st Male / 1st Female £50 prize money
- 2nd Male / 2nd Female £25 prize money
- 3rd Male / 3rd Female £10 prize money
Age category trophies were awarded as follows:
- 1st Male veteran over - 40, 45, 50, 55, 60+
- 1st Female veteran over - 40, 45, 50, 55, 60+
- Team prizes 1st 3 male & 1st 3 female for each team prize

THE RACE
The 13.1 mile course which has a few undulations, heads out from Finborough School through the villages of Buxhall, Rattlesden and Brettenham then returns to Finborough via Buxhall. A map of the course is available from the Good Run Guide.
The first and last 400m of the course will be controlled by police. Please follow the instructions of the police and marshals at all times. The police have requested that at all other times all runners keep to the left hand side of the road unless told otherwise.
For safety reasons the course will close at 2.00pm. Anyone still on the course after this time may be running without the support of marshals.
The Red Cross will be present for those requiring medical attention. If you see anyone in distress during the race, please advise a race marshal as soon as possible to call for medical assistance.
A copy of the risk assessment will be available on the race notice board.
