Stowmarket Striders Friday 5

This is the Stowmarket Striders Friday 5 mile race, leg 3 of the Friday 5 Series of races.

The challenging 5 mile course is held at Haughley Park (nr Stowmarket), through 2 laps of the woods and fields of the park lands. An aerial map of the race route can be seen here. From 2008 the course is an accurately measured five miles. The start has been moved to add on the 200 yards that had been missing in previous years!

Following the re-alignment of the Haughley Bends on the A14, access to Haughley Park from the A14 west-bound from Ipswich has changed:

• Leave the A14 at Junction 49 (Signposted Stowmarket A1308, Haughley & Wetherden).
• At the roundabout at the top of the slip road turn right over the A14 and at the next roundabout take the exit signposted to Haughley, Wetherden and Haughley Park.
• Stay on this road (the old A14), past the Little Chef and Haughley New Street, for 2.5 miles. Haughley Park is signposted on the left.

Travel Directions from Bury St Edmunds

• Travel on the A14 towards Ipswich.
• After the junction with the A1088 to Ixworth, take the next junction signposted Haughley & Wetherden.
• Follow this road straight through and Haughley Park will be about 1/2 mile on your right.

Please follow the marshalls instructions on where to park.

Facilities

We do not have the benefit of the barn this year so portaloo toilets will be made available. Changing facilities will be limited and there are no showers available.

BBQ and refreshments will be available on the night.

The Race

The Red Cross will be present for those requiring medical attention. If you see anyone in distress during the race, please advise a race marshal as soon as possible to call for medical assistance.

A copy of the risk assessment will be available on the race notice board.

Results

We will endeavour to display as many of the results as possible on the race notice board as competitors complete the race, and after the race.

Full results will be available from this website (www.stowmarketstriders.org.uk) in the week following the race.
